Founded in 1987, Micad is a leading provider of web based estates management and compliance software. As a leading CAFM product, Micad is used by many of the largest property holding institutions in the UK and successfully supports a range of estate owners in both the public and private sectors. 

Historically the company and its products have primarily been developed in association with the NHS and Universities. However, Micad is now increasingly being used in the commercial marketplace for companies managing medium to large building portfolios.

Objectives

To provide a ‘cloud, computing’ approach where the client can both store, access and use a selection of software tools to assist those with a responsibility for managing the built environment where greater efficiency, reduced risk and cost saving are key deliverables.

This pioneering strategy has given us a significant advantage over our competitors, allowing us to still lead the market today. Not only have we focused on the software and its application, but also the method of delivery through our investment in a fully web based application hosting service. In fact, over 90% of our clients are now supported by Micad through our hosting service. 

Many other systems used for estate and compliance management are inflexible, complicated and restrictive in terms of their configuration and reporting capabilities. At Micad, we remove these frustrations by providing software that can be customised with ease to deliver a truly client focused experience.

All Micad applications are produced by means of collaborative development with our customer base and leading estates consultants. Micad applications are developed exclusively by in-house staff. In 2002 the company launched a significant 5 year R&D program to rewrite both existing and new applications into a web format. All our programmes and developments are entirely web-based.  The company offers a ‘turn-key’ solution to the implementation, customisation, training and support of the system. Within the last 5 years Micad has successfully developed its web application hosting service. This offers a number of significant benefits in the areas of data management, support, training and implementation. It has also proven to be hugely beneficial in ensuring on-line collaboration between clients and their surveyors and consultants/surveyors during major data collection and strategy formulation exercises enabling the client to concentrate on their core business.
